All of this work would be impossible without our team in the K-Fe Farms. By supporting our people in terms of living arrangements, education and access to health clinics; as well as technologies that make their work less strenuous.
We work hard all year, operating under the highest quality and ethical standards. We continue to experiment with new practices and methods in order to continue improving and building our worldwide recognition because of the quality we present.
We partner with others who are as passionate for coffee as we are. All of these are key aspects to deliver a world class coffee that speak to our commitment to quality.

COffee & People

Florence Mathies

In 2009, Florence Mathies Hill, a passionate and dedicated woman, decided to continue with her family legacy of coffee production in El Salvador, making her a fourth generation coffee farmer. By establishing more efficient processes and innovating where opportunity presents itself, Florence has always worked towards having the best operation possible in order to benefit both the quality of K-Fe’s coffee as well as the people working there.
Florence has always cared for the people around her, helping the communities around K-FÉ’s farms. She has always showed commitment to our workers’ nutrition, health and education.
Florence Hill

We believe that specialty coffee involves other aspects that are also very important, like the well-being of our communities.

Our Pioneer: James Hill

James Hill was born in England and arrived in El Salvador in the 19th century. From a very young age he realized that by introducing new techniques to the cultivation and processing of coffee, he could export coffee beans that met the highest international standards.
He began exporting coffee on his own account at the end of the 19th century and, shortly after, won a silver medal at the Pan-American Exposition in New York, 1901.
James Hill founded Las Tres Puertas in 1896, in Santa Ana town, located close Santa Ana’s Volcano whose slopes produce coffee beans of the highest quality. His vision in promoting new ideas and methods to coffee production in our country included the introduction of the Bourbon variety of Arabica Coffee.
